The Mississippi Peanut Growers Association plan to hold their 14th annual meeting and trade show Jan. 29-30, 2019, at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The event provides growers with the latest information on peanut production, research and new products. Growers will have the opportunity to visit with several exhibitors showcasing equipment and services for the peanut industry. Exhibits open at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Speakers during the annual meeting will provide an update on peanut varieties, agronomic practices, peanut market outlook for 2019, weed and insect research in Mississippi peanuts. Growers will also hear reports on checkoff activities of MPGA and the National Peanut Board.
Durign the MPGA annual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29, MPGA members will elect directors for the association. The director election will be held for positions in District 2 (South West, Miss.), District 4 (North West, Miss.) and At-Large positions B (Delta) and C (South East) are up for election. District directors are voted on by members in their district and At-Large are voted on by state-wide membership. The current directors in each of these districts are: District 2 – Lonnie Fortner; District 4 – Patrick Martin; At-large B – B. Jones and At-Large C – Van Hensarling.
